SSL: Rhythmic Unrest, Sat. July 4th, 4pm-10pm

The event page on Facebook.

We acknowledge this event takes place on the unceded lands of the Lhaq’temish, Nooksack, and Coast Salish people, who have been stewards of this land for thousands of years. This is stolen land and we cannot liberate ourselves from white supremacy unless it is hand in hand with our Indigenous siblings.

Join Stand Speak Listen (SSL) on this 4th of July from 4pm-10pm for a protest as we center, celebrate, and engage with Black and Indigenous voices from across the community through words, music, movement, and more! Through the arts, SSL invites the community to come together to uplift voices of color this Independence Day

.We invite you to stand with us.
We invite you to speak with us.
We invite you to listen with us

.: Things to Consider :

This is an ALL AGES EVENT, which means it’s a sober one. If you are going to come with an open and conscious mind, then it needs to be a grounded and sober– not just for yourself but for all others attending.

This is a peaceful protest. We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to violent behavior, and anyone in violation of that policy will be asked to leave immediately. There will be several spaces for learning, listening, moving, standing, and engaging. We will intentionally hold space for BIPOC and Queer folks, so please consider what that means given your personal identity. The space closest to the main stage will be designated for BIPOC. We ask that white folks hold the perimeter and keep to the back.

Please come prepared for the day. Masks are required as well as staying 6+ feet away from those not in your household. The majority of the park is in direct sunlight for most of the day and a portion of the grounds is covered in large gravel. Water, hats, sunscreen, snacks, personal shade source (like an umbrella!), and comfortable shoes are highly encouraged. We will have bathrooms, medics, and a safety team for support.Accessibility: there is a paved lot with ADA parking spaces just north of the Stage. There will also be an ADA-reserved seating area on the pavement closest to the gravel/stage, however the site is largely gravel and there is no pavement near the stage. Please connect with a volunteer upon arrival for support and direction.
